Herb attended UFJF (Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora) and Faculdade Ibero Americana in Brazil where he received his undergraduate Certificate in Chemistry and degree in Education (ESL) and Translation-Interpretation. He has instructed in Public, Private and Foreign Language Institutes in Brazil.

He studied nursing at North Idaho College and received his nursing degree in 1992. His nursing career focus was in ICU, Home Care-Infusion, Staff Development, and teaching. In early 2001 he was trained in Botox, Sclerotherapy, and Medical Esthetics by the Eclectic Skin Institute, LLC and later became trained in Endermology. He is the owner of Shining Way Skin Care Services a medical spa in Houston, Texas where he specializes in Botox, Sclerotherapy, Microdermabrasion, Hair Removal, and Endermology.

Herb is a member of Intravenous Nurse Society (INS) and was Chairman of Houston Chapter in 1997; Houston Interpreters Translations Association (HITA) and Society for Clinical and Medical Hair Removal (SCMHR)
